15 Trendy Looks for Teens and Moms, From

As a thirty-something millennial, it’s both nostalgic and exciting to watch my Gen Z daughter and her friends dress the way I did in high school. They’re all about the latest trends, and I love that I can join in on the fun by buying the same outfits in my size (and still look like a cool mom).

From oversized graphic tees to New Balance sneakers and high-waisted leggings, it all feels like a blast from the past mixed with modern teen favorites—like the popular Lululemon belt bag. Fashion trends have come full circle since my teenage years, so I’ve decided to embrace this new era and found 15 trendy looks I can buy in my own size.

These casual New Balance sneakers, inspired by the 80s, are ideal for comfort and style. After searching for a pair of comfy shoes, I finally received my daughter’s approval on this pair. These kicks offer lightweight foam cushioning in the midsole and a comfort insert that makes long days on your feet much easier. There are 41 standout colors available, with some styles on sale.

Amazhiyu Cropped Sweatshirt

This crewneck cropped sweatshirt featuring a dropped long sleeve immediately caught my daughter’s attention while shopping. She said it looked “cozy and cute,” and I agree. It comes in nearly 20 colors, including two of my teen’s favorites: ash and apricot (she prefers to get them in multiple colors, and I enjoy sharing). The exposed seam stands out compared to your typical sweatshirt.

I blinked the other day and saw my 2004 sophomore year before me. Standing with my daughter in the high school office, I witnessed multiple teens, including my daughter’s friend, sporting a pair of high-waisted cargo pants. Now, my daughter wants a pair, and she decided on this pick, which has six pockets.

One Amazon shopper exclaimed, “I have gotten so many compliments on these cargo pants, plus they are super comfy and versatile.” They added that they “bought them in three colors, so far.”

Laxizar Hair Claw Clips

A common fashion staple among many teen groups today (including my own teen and her 9-year-old sister) is hair claw clips. I recently purchased this 8-count claw clip set for myself, but I often find my daughters wearing them, too. They’re available in various colors and patterns that seamlessly match with any outfit I choose. My favorite part is that they’re $10, making them just a little over a dollar each.

Trendy Queen Oversized Hoodie

Oversized fleece hoodies always stay in style. My daughter and her friends are obsessed with anything oversized, but hoodies are their absolute favorite (and mine, too). The Trendy Queen oversized hoodie is an Amazon best-seller and comes in more than 30 colors and sizes XX-Small to 4X. It is “buttery soft inside” and “extremely warm,” gushed one shopper.

High-Waisted Leggings

Meet the absolute fashion staple in high school halls today: leggings. Teens can’t have enough leggings in their closets, and neither can I. These non-see-through leggings are versatile and offer coverage in all the right places. Wear them for every season and dress them up or down.

Blue Light Glasses

I remember a time when glasses “weren’t cool.” Now, glasses are for everyone and have become incredibly versatile. Rock these vintage half-frame glasses with a pair of high-rise straight-leg jeans and a graphic tee. The anti-blue lens blocks 90% of blue light and protects your eyes from electronics and everyday life. “These are durable and look good! My 15-year-old wears them all the time!” raved one dad on Amazon.

Lavento All Day Soft Biker Shorts

When my daughter began wearing biker shorts with her oversized graphic tees, I immediately pulled mine out. These biker shorts are breathable and don’t ride up whether you’re running or walking. They’re available in various lengths, making it easy to choose what suits you best.

Athmile Oversized Graphic Tee

Oversized graphic tees are all the rage with my teen and her friends. I have to admit: these teens inspired me to restock the graphic tee section in my closet. Choose from an oversized LA tee to a New York option— all styles are crewneck with a dropped shoulder.

“I purchased this T-shirt for a very picky teen,” shared one Amazon shopper. “She wanted clothing that was oversized, not itchy or constrictive. This hit the bill, and I plan to purchase more.”

Lululemon Everywhere Belt Bag 1L

My daughter and her friends are obsessed with the Lululemon Athletica Everywhere Belt Bag, and my mom friends and I have jumped on the trend, too. This bag’s functionality is ideal for carrying items like your phone, passport, and wallet. With easy access to all of your essentials, the Lululemon belt bag is $38.

Reebok Court Advance Bold Sneaker

While waiting on my teen daughter in the high school parking lot, I observed all the different kicks moving about at dismissal and noticed something exciting: Reeboks are back. The Court Advance Bold Sneaker is cute, comfy, and true to size. “I wear these shoes with everything,” exclaimed one Amazon shopper, adding they are “comfortable to walk in all day, “quick to break in,” and “easy to keep clean.”

KDF High Waisted Flare Jeans

As a wife and mother, I want to find jeans that support me and still make me feel good. These high-waisted flared jeans do just that. The jeans’ style accentuates my waist without sacrificing comfort. I especially love the 11 different washes, from black to light blue.

Dokotoo Casual Crew Neck Sweatshirt

My teen lives in loose sweatshirts, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to copy this trend. This sweatshirt’s 95% cotton material is lightweight, soft, and available in more than 40 colors and prints. My daughter owns a similar crewneck sweatshirt, and I have to beg to borrow it because it’s her favorite. I’m buying myself this pick and fully expect to have to share it with her in return.

Muchpow V-Neck Sleeveless Jumpsuit

Rompers are coming back, and I’m here for it. Teens love the Free People jumpsuit, but as a mom on a budget, I prefer to find a similar look to save money. I love this Free People jumpsuit dupe on Amazon because it’s incredibly versatile. You can dress it up or keep it casual and wear it for all the seasons by adding or removing layers.

Rosyclo Cloud Slippers

If you’re on your feet all day like me, then these cloud slippers are calling your name. When I saw my teen sliding a pair on, I decided to snatch a pair for myself. Rosyclo cloud slippers “have amazing support” and make you “feel like you’re walking on a cloud,” raved one Amazon reviewer. Best of all, they are flexible and waterproof.
