Evlox Upcycles Samples with Spanish Design School

Evlox has found a creative way to reuse samples.

The Madrid-based denim weaver teamed with students from Qstura, a Catalan fashion and tailoring school that specializes in sustainability and innovation, to repurpose denim samples from past seasons.

The goal of the upcycling project was to give new life to denim by transforming old garments into new pieces. The students of Qstura, organized in groups, created five unique pieces from garments donated by Evlox. A total of 14 students from the Fashion and Textile Diploma participated in a 20-hour hands-on workshop, where they developed a series of accessories under the guidance of their tutors.

The backpack and tote bags are on display at Premiere Vision in Paris this week. Evlox said the project aligns with the trade show’s focus on creative innovation, circularity, and regeneration in fashion.

“At Evlox, we believe that true innovation comes from the ability to reinvent the past. Our collaboration with Qstura School in the ‘Upcycling by Evlox’ project is a perfect example of how we can breathe new life into old garments, turning denim waste into something beautiful and valuable. This project reflects our commitment to educating the next generation of fashion professionals in sustainable practices,” said Noemí Sánchez, Evlox’s marketing manager.

Evlox aims to inspire young creators to learn about the art of denim and sustainable production processes by supporting schools and educational institutions. The mill provides real-world insights into denim and fashion industries, and hosts design competitions.

“We have been involved in providing students with access to fabrics, resources, and industry knowledge that they can use to enhance their learning. Additionally, we have supported various student projects and workshops that encourage creativity, sustainability, and innovation in fashion design,” Sánchez said.

The industry is increasingly interconnected and complex, she added, making it all the more crucial for the supply chain to take an active role in educating future designers, she added.

“Designers need to understand the entire process—from raw materials to production, logistics, and sustainability—in order to create designs that are both innovative and practical. By involving the supply chain, we can ensure that designers have a holistic view of how their work impacts the environment, economies, and societies. This kind of education fosters responsible design, promotes sustainable practices, and helps bridge the gap between creative concepts and manufacturing realities,” Sanchez said.

The mill was at Premiere Vision to present its Spring/Summer 2026 collection of fabrics made with sustainable dye technologies, including Ice by Evlox and Khol by Evlox, low impact dyeing method that reduce energy, water and chemical consumption.
